This update for the popular app that creates 3D models from photographs has been rebuilt from the ground up. Here are a few of the new features you will find in this update to 123D Catch.

  1. Tried the app with my Galaxy S6 Edge, takes a very long time to upload the photos, and even longer to switch them all together, and even when that's all done, the results are VERY poor. Regardless of how many or how few pictures are used, how bright or dark the environment is, I have yet to get a good result that doesn't look like Swiss Cheese (filled with holes). You can tell its kind of doing the right thing but then completely misses large chuncks or puts holes in walls etc

  2. I would love to talk to you about using this or something like it for research. I work for the EPA and it would be really cool to have an easy-to-use tool for field researchers to build a quick model of a tree in the field. They wouldn't be able to get above the tree, obviously. But even an approximation would be great. Especially if we could get real-life sizing information.
