Amazing, WhatsApp has rolled out a new feature for iPhone and iPad users that will add a layer of security to its chats. After the latest update, the Facebook-owned instant messaging app will allow users to add FaceID or TouchID to open the app. If you are wondering how to enable this latest WhatsApp feature, follow these steps:

Open WhatsApp

Tap on Settings on the right corner

Tap on Account

Open Privacy

Tap on ‘Screen Lock’

6.Toggle on ‘Require Face ID’

Once you do, it will give you an option to select when you want your Apple device to ask for FaceID or TouchID. There are four options — immediately, after 1 minute, after 15 minutes, after 1 hour. Also, this layer of protection is there to open the application rather than for individual chats.

Readers must note that they will still get to reply to messages from notifications and answer calls if WhatsApp is locked. Also, this biometric authentication is currently available for iOS operating system only with version v 2.19.20. There is no word on the roll out of this feature for Android users so far, therefore it is hard to say when they can expect to get this feature.

Recently, WhatsApp rolled out three new features for iPhone users — including private reply for group chat messages, adding stickers by tapping on the emoji icon when editing a picture or video before sending the media file and preview a contact’s status from the Status tab using 3D touch.

Private reply feature

For this, you will have to long press on the message you want to reply to , tap on the three-dotted menu find the Private Reply option in the menu. This will then redirect you to the private chat of the contact with the message selected you want to reply to.

Adding stickers to photo, video

WhatsApp allows iOS users to add stickers to pictures and videos before sending them to your contact. The sticker tab will appear right next to the emoji tab on the app.
