This is the review of the Xiaomi Redmi 9/ Redmi 9 Prime (In India). We have used this device for more than 3 weeks now and here is the detailed review of it with pros, cons, and comparison with Redmi Note 9.
Buy Redmi 9/ Redmi 9 Prime (4+64GB)
Okay, getting started with the design of it, you get a plastic back that is not bad actually. It resembles last year’s Redmi Note 8 Pro in regards to the camera placement on the back. On hands too, it does not have any creaks or bends, so that’s nice. It has a 6.53 inch IPS LCD notched display with FHD+ resolution whose quality is decent and punches well above the competition.
Performance-wise, you have the MediaTek Helio G80 chipset under the hood that performs excellently for the price. The normal to heavy performance is handled by the phone pretty well. Also, we compared its gaming performance to that of the more expensive Redmi Note 9 and found that the Redmi 9 gives you consistently better gameplay. However, in normal tasks as well as multitasking, Note 9 will give you slightly better results. But, the Redmi 9 is a very close second.
Even its camera performance is more or less similar to the Redmi Note 9. You get a quad-camera setup consisting of a 13MP primary lens, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2MP depth sensor, and a 5MP macro lens. You won’t get the most vibrant images from its cameras, but it does a good job nonetheless. The front houses an 8MP selfie camera.
Battery life on the Redmi 9/Redmi 9 Prime is very good with its 5,020 mAh battery. However, what’s painful is the 10-watt charging that takes slightly over 3 hours to get fully charged. The phone supports 18- watt fast charging which takes some 2 hours and 30 minutes to juice up the device.
